Waukegan, Illinois (August 15, 2014) Telefonix, Inc., a leader in cord reel technology and manufacturer of the PowerPost® commercial electric vehicle (EV) charging station product line, has confirmed that the company’s L1 PowerPost electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) has been tested at the Nissan Technical Center in Plymouth, Michigan. The Company reports that the L1 PowerPost EVSE is fully compatible with the Nissan LEAF® battery electric vehicle.
The testing procedure at Nissan simulates various charging situations and fault conditions. Says Bill Williams of Telefonix, “the results we’ve received from Nissan confirm that the L1 PowerPost EV charging station is not only compatible with the LEAF, but also compliant with SAE J1772 best practice recommendations.”
Telefonix developed the L1 PowerPost EVSE specifically for workplace charging and longer term parking situations such as airports, hotels and education facilities. LEAF and other plug-in vehicle drivers put approximately 5 miles back into their battery for every hour they are plugged into the L1 PowerPost electric vehicle charging station. This low current charging helps reduce overall energy costs by avoiding spikes that can increase a facility’s peak energy demand.
The L1 PowerPost EVSE can be customized with advertising or logos as seen above at the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in North Chicago, Illinois.
The Telefonix PowerPost electric vehicle charging station product line is focused on low current solutions for commercial parking lots or garages where cars are parked for three or more hours. The L1 PowerPost EVSE lead the way as the first commercial Level 1 EV charging station, and the L2 PowerPost EVSE is making an impact on the Level 2 product category as the first low current, commercial Level 2 EV charging station. All PowerPost chargers provide an economical charging solution that also features a retractable cord reel that eliminates the clutter and potential hazards of long cables as well as offering the potential for custom branding. Telefonix is delivering on electric vehicle charging innovations with a cost of ownership that creates a win-win for both the EV driver and the parking facility.
